We have an onsite ultrasound to help aid in a quicker diagnosis. Ultrasound is a non-invasive way to look inside the abdomen. Ultrasound uses high frequency sound waves to create a picture of the inside of your pet’s abdomen. For example, with the ultrasound we can create pictures of the liver, spleen, kidneys, or bladder. We can also diagnose masses or fluid inside the abdomen. Ultrasound helps our veterinarians provide an accurate diagnosis and direct the proper treatment plan.
We are also able to perform echocardiograms. An echocardiogram is an ultrasound of the heart. It is sometimes referred to as an “echo.” An echocardiogram is used to evaluate any type of heart disease, such as heart murmurs or other cardiomyopathies. We can evaluate the size of the heart chambers, the thickness of the heart walls, the thickness of the heart valves, and blood flow patterns.
